"Jacob! Come back here!" Dominic called after his child, who just decided to run around the apartment with only a Thomas the tank engine shirt and underpants on. Dominic himself was in the middle of giving Jacob a bath and cooking lunch. It was a feat that no other man dare attempt. The wooden cooking sp**n hung from the side of his mouth so it sounded more like "jacof, come ba' 'ere!" and his sock covered feet slid across the wooden floors, so it gave him some extra speed. Jacob continued to giggle. Finally Dominic caught up to him. Jeez, Jacob sure was fast for a kid his size. Dom shook his head and handed Jacob his pants. He was capable of dressing himself, he just didn't. "Put the pants on." He said, gesturing to the brown corduroys that he threw on the bed. He shuffled back to the kitchen where steam was emitting from the post. "Shit." He swore silently under his breath and quickly turned off the stove. He just stood there glaring at the stove. That was it. It was fast food now. He gave up on cooking today. He just wasn't in the mood. "Jacob?" He called out, and he would probably come skidding into the kitchen soon enough with his teddy bear under one arm. "We're going to McDonalds!" He called out again. He poured his cooking in the bin and cleaned it up.
He heard a whoop from his son and he got himself ready. Changing out of his tracksuit pants and put on a pair of worn-out blue jeans and a old rock t-shirt. He stuffed on his classic pair of black and white converse and shoved his keys, phone and wallet into his pockets, while he packed a little ninja turtles bag for Jacob. Putting in a water bottle, his small games console and a few racing cars. Oh, he popped in Jacob's favourite Doctor Seuss book, "There's a Wocket in my Pocket". Jacob came skidding out of his room, the socks makes a squeaking sounds against the hardwood floor. Dominic reached over and ruffled his son's hair. He held out the bag to him and Jacob took it and swinging it on his bag and headed towards the door, stopping to sit himself on the floor to put his shoes on. Finally they were able to leave the house and Dominic drove the both of them to the closest McDonalds and parked his car.
He ordered Jacob a happy meal, and got himself a large cola. He didn't like fast food, but his son did. They left the car at the McDonalds parking lot and they walked over to the park, so Jacob could play on the playground after he ate, seeing as the playground was an attraction to may of the children in Manhattan Beach, California. They found a spot under the tree and they sat down on the soft green grass. Jacob began to eat his cheeseburger happily, while Dominic just sipped on his drink and scrolled through his contact list on his phone. He looked up and saw a familiar figure. He put his hands above his eyes to shield them and wolf-whistled. "Oi, pretty lady!" He called. And laughed to himself.

cecilia lerocco. BENEATH THE ROOTS OF THE TREE, ______________________
t
he only sound that could be heard through out cecilia's room, was that of silence. it was unusual that she didn't have something french, perferabley by carla bruni glaring within the walls of her bedroom. the one remotley audible sound that was heard was the clicking of her mouse exiting out of various different clothing web sites. you would have thought that in a town like manhattan with some of the best designer sellers right within your walking distance online shopping wouldn't be nessacary but today it was. mrs. lerocco decided it was a "family bonding day." but under these circumstances, cecilia did not want to be with her family, they were her last idea of normality. william, her brother was home from college, therefore cecilia, lucile, and henry were forced to stay home and spend the day together, playing board games, and going out to lunch. no way in hell did cecilia want to do this, sure she loved her family, but a seventeen year old girl with a life like daisy's had much better things to do. when she told her mother that she did not want to be a part of today all she got was a point of her mother's index finger in the direction of upstairs, and the only room up there was cecilia's. apparently her mother forgot how old she was and tried telling her to go to her room. as she stomped up the stairs she heard her yell something about no music, hence the silence. but it was getting old. why should she sit in her room surrounded my the silence and drounded in her thoughts when her family was downstairs laughing at something stupid, she was sure. the soft palms of cecilia's hands pulled away harshly against the wooden edge of the computer desk, and she rolled the rich mahogany office chair backward, the wheels bumping against the millimeter spaces of the hardwood flooring. the soles of her feet hammered delicately against the ground, she pushed herself upward, her lady like body standing straight up. softly taking baby steps she reached into her closet for a warm jacket and made her was as quietly as she could down the stairs and out the front door.
by the time she made it to the front of her building there was no sign that her mother had seen her leave. if she had she would most likely be yelling over the balcony or running up right behind her. none of that was happening, so she was safe. standing beneath the navy blue awning of the sears tower she wrapped her arms tightly around herself wondering what she was going to do. while she had been so cooped up upstairs thinking of an escape route she never bothered to call anyone to see if they were even around to hang out, or think of anywhere she could go. hungry was something she hardly ever was these days, but she refused to let herself believe that she was starving herself. so that left going out to eat out of the picture. shopping wasn't really fun when you're alone. as she pulled out her cell phone it was hard for her not to dial those two familiar numbers that she would have usually called, gemma or someone, but she hadn't seen her in a few days to her greatest surprise.
for a change cecilia decided to walk to mira costa. she stuffed her hands into her pockets of her black pea coat. today wasn’t at all silent; the wind twirled the dry autumn leaves in the giant trees, causing them to leisurally fall on the pavement in front of her, shoes would crush these crisp leaves into tiny pieces. the wind was cold, and unkind, blowing through her curly hair, and in the microsized holes in her sweater, making her dig her hands deeper into her pockets for warmth. the sky threatened her with misty clouds that covered the sky. It was obvious the colder months were coming, you didn't need a genius to make that statment. it certainly wasn’t going to be long until she started see a few flakes floating in the air, a couple of months at max. finally she made her way to the park, and did not expect to see anybody there, but was in for a rude awakening. well not so much rude, but surprising. she rolled her eyes at first at the whistle, there were a lot of perverts these days, an abnormal amount and you just learned to ignore them. but the vocals were fairly familiar. as she turned around she noticed it was dominic and jacob.you totally freaked me out for a second. she said with a slight laugh as she made her way over towards them. is it colder than normal or is it just me?. the weather hadn't seemed so cold in a while, but it was now mid-december so it would be no surprise. waving at jacob she put on a extra wide smile, he was probably one of the cutest kids she had ever seen. he laughed heartily as he saw the figure he wolf-whistled at, look around to try and find the source of the attention seeking whistle. he grinned when she finally found out who it was and walked towards them, while jacob happily munched on his cheeseburger, tomato sauce around his mouth and he picked upa chip with one of his hands and ate that too. dominic picked up his drink and took a large mouthful and gulped it down. "that was the whole point, cec." he said smirking. his hand reached up to mess up his dirty blonde slash light brown hair. as cecilia waved at jacob and smiled at him, jacob too, stuck his hand up in the air and waved it to and fro violently. dominic reached out and took hold of his arm, before it flew off or something. "whoa kiddo. relax." he said laughing. he patted a spot on the grass. "come and sit." he said. just then, he heard his phone ring shrilly and he fished it out of his pocket and pressed the talk button. he held up a finger at cec, telling her he won't be too long on the phone as it was work. "talk to me.. *pause* yeah, i know that. *pause* tonight? oh maan." he said rubbing the back of his head with his free hand and sighed. "yeah i'm there. yep. call you later." he said, finally and pressed the 'hang up' button. he put his phone on the grass and propped his arms behind him and let out a loud sigh. "that was grace. one of the nurses at the hospital. i have to go into work tonight. i thought it was my day off." he said, sitting up straight and scratched the side of his face, with his rough fingers. he then stroked his chin, feeling the stubble on his face.
"so what shenannigans have you gotten up to?" he said, and then laughed at the work shenannigans. it was a word that old men would have used to describe the young whippersnappers. well, he was pretty old now. sooner or later, he would be thirty and his son would.. he wasn't sure at the moment. but he very much hoped alive and well. he didn't even care if he was all angsty and everything. he just hoped he had found a cure by then. because if he coudn't, two years from now, he wouldn't have a son. he wouldn't have someone to look after and be proud to his own. "been studying hard in school?" he asked cec. he worried about peoples education. if they didn't study hard enough, they wouldn't get very far in life. but he didn't know. he had paid attention in school, only for his son. if he didn't have a son, he wouldn't be where he was. so he was glad he did concerntrate in school. he looked over at jacob who had finished his burger. but was now gobbling up chips, dipping them one by one into the tomato sachet he had gotten with the happy meal and playing with the toy car he had gotten as well, making vroom vroom noises as he ate his chips. he gave his son a napkin so he could wipe his mouth. "wipe your mouth." he said and looked back at cecilia. "heey, are you busy tonight? because if you aren't, would you be able to look after jacob while i work? it would only be for a few hours. i'll even pay you." he asked cec. he didn't want to leave jacob home alone. and cec was someone he trusted. "and this time, i asked beforehand, and didn't ask you last minute." he said grinning.
