It would have been a record for the most beautiful day in recent memory in most other places in the United States, but in California, it was just nice. Hot, but not too hot - breezy, but not too breezy. The sand didn't scald the tender, lotion-softened skin on the bottom of her soon-to-be-bare feet, the wind didn't blow tiny granules into her carefully darkened eyes, and the temperature was still warm enough so that she didn't have to wear extra clothing to cover up her black-and-white two-piece. Quite fortunate, really; everyone knew that hiding one's skin was simply uncool.
One Linsey Harper slammed the door of her bright blue Mini Cooper (another of the her daddy dearest's many attempts at buying his daughter's favor) shut, its lights flashing as it let out a small honk in response to Linsey pressing her thumb against the remote dangling from her key ring. Brushing strands of her raven hair from her face, the young woman placed her jingling keys inside the small purse - more fashionable than practical, as were most of her belongings - hanging off her shoulder. Linsey glanced coolly around the long stretch of beach from underneath two sets of dark, thick lashes hiding behind her large Aviators. Perfect. It certainly wasn't empty (was it ever?) but it wasn't overly crowded, either.
Beach towel clutched loosely in one dainty, perfectly-manicured hand, Linsey's flip-flops lived up to their name as she sauntered down towards the sand, pursing her lips as she searched for that one special location. It might have all looked like a big mass of sand to anyone else, but... well, Linsey was a girl who knew what she wanted, and what she wanted was a stick-free, rock-free, fish-carcass free area, and she had lived in California for long enough to know that such little treasures often lurked beneath the surface.
Finally choosing a spot, Linsey tossed her purse unceremoniously onto the sand and quickly spread out her towel, kicking off her flip flops before she laid down. She smoothed out one stubborn corner of the towel with her big toe before she reached out one slim, tanned arm (a sign that the beach was a frequent destination for her) for her purse. The dark-haired young woman reached up to deftly remove her sunglasses, setting them down on the towel next to where she laid her head down moments later.
Nice day, beautiful day, it didn't matter; Linsey Harper was going to be tan, skinny, and buff whether the sun decided to shine or not.

kayslee ,,SHE'S GOT A BILL AND A FACE LIKE A SUPERMODEL Today, it seemed like no one was free. Lonlieness wasn't something the blonde felt too often, but was miserable when she did. Hollywood was seeing a movie. Rylet wasn't answering his phone. Michael was off with some girl. Ethan was watching tv. She was bored and lonely. So the only thing that came to her mind was going to the beach. So when she finished eating her Atkins diet shake, she tossed it into the garbage along the boardwalk, and started walking towards the shore. Her long, straight, blonde hair cascaded down her back perfectly, tickling the ties of her suit. Her flip flops slapped against the ground, kicking up small bits of sand as she moved.
Her bathing suit was a turquoise string bikini that fit her petite curves amazingly well. She looked stunning. She had on a silver bracelet and necklace set from Tiffany's around her thin wrist and neck. Her bright blue eyes were lit up from the tone of her suit. Her long, toned body looked even tanner in the sun, bare. Running a hand through her hair, she walked along the beach, fingers playing with her necklace. Seeing a brunette girl lying on a towel, she grinned. She knew her, and was friends with her.
Walking over to her, she sat down close to her, almost touching. Hey babe. Kayslee said, still smiling. Linsey Harper. One of her many, many, many friends. Also bisexual. Kayslee had no idea what she was, personally. Sometimes Kayslee found herself thinking some girls were hot. She couldn't help it. She was curious. Not that she'd easily let anyone know that. She found herself feeling these things for Linsey. Hell, they'd even kissed before. But that was once, when Kay was drunk. And she was scared as hell that she felt something more than she'd ever felt for any of her meaningless flings who were guys.
Linsey was gorgeous. Who could blame Kayslee?

After she had settled down on the towel, Linsey immediately retrieved her white iPod Nano from her purse, pushing her ear buds into their proper place and allowing the energetic, updeat melodies to drift through her mind. The dark-haired girl stretched her arms out in front of her, slightly shifting her lean body as she tried to get comfortable on the sand. It was hard to go from her plush, spacious bed to lying on the ground (even if sand was much more comfortable than just dirt) but, of course, tanning from her bedroom might have been a bit difficult... even if her window was easily large enough to let in plenty of sun.
The world around her seemed to completely disappear as Linsey closed her eyes, the music tuning out the sounds of the rest of the beach-combers. This was what she lived for. Not only did she look even better than she already did after a good tan, but the actual process was incredibly relaxing. Laying out on the beach, letting the sun warm her skin, listening to the pulsing tunes on her iPod... if there wasn't that whole stupid sunburn thing, Linsey knew she could lay out on her towel for hours and hours.
Kayslee's approach went unnoticed by Linsey until the other girl's voice carried over her music. The darker-toned of the two cracked open one eye, squinting against the bright sunlight, and a soft smile tugged lightly at her thin lips as she recognized who had spoken to her. "Hey gorgeous," Linsey replied with a light, friendly smirk, reaching over to put her music on pause. "What's up?"
Kayslee. Always a friend, but a bit more once or twice in the past. While Linsey usually swung more towards the male species, Kayslee was a definite exception - and how could she not be? They were the same age, they ran with the same crowd... and anyone could see that the blond girl was incredibly attractive.

kayslee ,,BODY BUILT JUST LIKE A COKE BOTTLE Kay bit her lip, waiting patiently as it took a while for Linsey to realize there was a girl sitting next to her. She knew the feeling. Often times, Kayslee would blast her Ipod to escape something. Her emotions. Her feelings. Her life. Anytime something got hard, her music was always there for her. It's what she wanted in her boyfriend... But never even found. All the guys she dated were insensitive jerks and assholes. She wished she could just meet the right person... Fall completely in love... And live happily ever after. But that wouldn't happen. Not to Kayslee.
As the brunette did speak, Kayslee let a wide grin spread over her face. Linsey's smile was contagious to her. Deciding that it was akward sitting and looking down at her, she layed down next to her, their sides just barely brushing. Normally, Kay would think nothing of this. But with Linsey it was different. New... Scary, almost. But it gave her this incredibale rush of emotions. It made her whole body tingle whenever she touched her, be it by accident or on the rare occasion it was on purpose. She had an idea what it meant, and hated herself for it. She couldn't be falling for a girl. She just couldn't. That would screw her over.
Not much, I was actually looking for someone to be with. She replied, not able to keep the tone of voice that she used for flirting out of these words. It was like her body went on auto pilot, and Kayslee was sending Linsey all the signs of wanting something by accident. Or was it on purpse? Letting the slutty side get ahold of her, she reached over and held Linsey's hand, tilting her head to look at the skinny brunette lying so close to her. It was taking all of the blonde's self control to not do two things- one, run away. This was too much for her. Two, leap on top of her and stop kissing her as hard as she goddamn could. She was that turned on by her.

As Kayslee sat down next to her, Linsey moved slightly to the side, giving the other girl a bit more room on her towel. She didn't even bother trying to hide the way she glanced over her friend's nearly bare body - and why should she? Linsey was never the type to try and hide anything. That just wasn't her... just as it wasn't her to sit back and let a pretty blond get away with not being flirted with. That was practically a crime.
The space (or lack thereof) between their swimsuit-clad bodies caused Linsey's smile to grow, taking on a subtley seductive edge. She knew Kayslee was a bit confused; one look at the fair-haired girl verified it. There was no way Linsey was going to let her get away with that... oh no. She'd worm an answer out of the other girl one way or another. "Where you now?" Linsey asked, smoothly arching a brow. "I could keep you company, if you want." It could have been a perfectly innocent offer in any other context, but with Linsey... well, very little was innocent with her.
Reaching up to tug her earbuds from her ears, Linsey sat up, folding one long, tanned leg over the other as she turned to better face Kayslee. The hand placed over hers was met with Linsey lacing her fingers through the blond's - hell would freeze over before she refused something like that. But, of course, she didn't want to just hold hands...
Even if Kayslee stubbornly blamed that kiss on the alcohol, Linsey would never bother to try and make excuses. She knew what she wanted, and she knew how to get it. It was simple. Linsey had been gifted with an attractive body, and years of practice had taught her how to use it to obtain just about anything that she wanted... and at that moment, that thing (or person, rather) was Kayslee.

kayslee ,,BODY BUILT JUST LIKE A COKE BOTTLE The blonde couldn't help but let a sexy smirk cross over her porcelain features as Linsey laced her fingers with hers. She felt another shot of electricity go up her, and she felt another jolt of boldness go through her. How so? She asked, voice taking on another level of seduction. Now that K had gotten started, there was no stopping her.
Feeling even cockier, she traced her free hand teasingly over the brunettes gorgeous, slender leg, above her knee and up to her thigh. Their eyes met, and instantly Kay felt warm blush creep over her face. Knowing she was turning bright red, seh frowned slightly. Sorry... She apologized, turning away slightly. Now she felt stupid. The girl had more experiance than Kayslee with this...

Linsey had to hide her grin at Kaylsee's reaction to their entertwined fingers. She sure seemed to be loosening up quickly - perfect. Linsey was determined to get her friend over her fear; she knew what they both wanted, so what was the other girl afraid of? They were both young, beautiful, and they each wanted the other. There was nothing to hold them back. All Linsey needed to do was show Kayslee that, and everything would be perfect.
Of course, judging by her tone, Kayslee seemed to be doing a pretty good job of that herself. Now she just had to see how good of a job. "Well..." Linsey tilted her head slightly to the side, the sly smirk never once leaving her face as she watched the blond. "We could go hang out somewhere a little more, y'know... private." She rolled each word delicately off her tongue, blue eyes fixated on Kayslee as she watched for a reaction.
The hand trailing up her leg absolutely made Linsey's day. It wasn't like she'd never been touched like that before - hands had reached far more intimate places plenty of times in the past - but the fact that it was Kayslee doing so made it so much better. The blush and apology, however, made Linsey even more determined to show Kayslee what wonderful things could happen with them; her competitive nature was quickly taking hold, even if the only thing to compete against was failure.
"For what?" Linsey asked, watching Kayslee with that same smooth, seductive gaze. "You didn't do anything wrong." As if to demonstrate, the dark-haired girl's free hand gently traveled up Kayslee's leg, finally coming to a delicate rest on the other girl's hip. She had this... how long could Kayslee keep telling herself there was something wrong?

kayslee ,,BODY BUILT JUST LIKE A COKE BOTTLE Biting her lip, she turned away again. A few moments later she looked back up at Linsey. She took a deep breath, and pulled away from her. Standing up, she looked down at the brunette. She had on a pained expression. She couldn't do this... She just couldn't. It felt so wrong. Giving her friend an apolegetic glance, she sighed. Linsey... I'm sorry. I can't... I'm sorry. Kayslee managed to mumble, running her hand through her hair. Sliding her feet back into her flip flops, she turned and started to walk away, arms crossed over her stomach. She felt horrible for doing this to Linsey, but she couldn't bring herself to do anything with her.
There were many facts that kept her from being able to. Her hard worked for status in school, as cliche as it sounded... Her morals, being ironically cathic. That hadn't stopped her before from hooking up with guys, but for some reason it was with her. Tugging at her bracelet again as she made her way to her SUV, she stopped outside of the car. She couldn't bring herself to turn around and look at Linsey. So instead, she opened the door and got into the drivers seat. And for a while, she just sat there, head against the steering wheel.

As Kayslee stood up and started walking away, it felt as if she had taken something from Linsey with her. Linsey bit her bottom lip as she silently watched her friend walk back to her car before she shook her head and looked away. Well, that hadn't gone according to plan. What was with that girl, anyway? How could she let anything hold her back, for any reason? Letting fears control one's life was the quickest way to a dull, uneventful existence.
Of course, maybe it was Linsey's fault, too. Perhaps she'd come on a bit too strong... but how could she not? She was used to flirting with guys, and she was never shy with them. Sure, she'd had a few female flings, but her only real relationships had been with men. Linsey herself was so unabashed and straightforward that she often forgot that most women, in fact, were not. Linsey rolled her eyes as she let out a quiet groan, tilting her face towards the sun.
Whether her attempts at coercing Kayslee into something more than just a drunken-kiss-tainted friendship, at that moment, she was still her friend, and Linsey didn't want any awkwardness to rise up between them. Not that things were ever awkward for Linsey, but making Kayslee feel that way wouldn't help anything. The dark-haired girl stood up, stretching for a moment before she gathered up her belongings, slipped her feet into her flip flops, and gracefully sashayed over to Kayslee's car.
As she approached the SUV, Linsey frowned slightly as she caught sight of Kayslee's head against the steering wheel. Was the idea of something more between them that terrible for her? Linsey rolled her pale eyes and sighed quietly before she stopped next to the driver's door, reaching out one tanned, wiry arm to gently rap her knuckles against the window. She shifted her weight to one leg as she waited for Kayslee to look up, her thin lips curled inwards as she tried to think of what to say to her blond friend.
